Zojirushi EB-CC15 Indoor Electric Grill

Amazon.com Review

Ideal for grilling steaks, chicken, fish, burgers, and vegetables indoors, this 1300-watt countertop appliance has a big, family-size grill surface of 12-1/2 by 9-1/4 inches coated with nonstick for low-fat cooking and easy cleaning. A variable heat control provides precise cooking temperatures, and the grill's handles and stylish, dark-gray plastic base stay cool during operation for safety. Another safety feature prevents the heat control, which provides power to the appliance, from being inserted unless the metal drip tray and cooking grid are in place and prevents the grid from being removed during operation. The appliance disassembles easily for cleaning, and the drip tray is dishwasher-safe. Overall, the unit measures 20-3/4 inches wide, 6-1/8 inches high, and 14 inches deep. --Fred Brack

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, January 18, 2005

Pros:
- non-stick surface makes it extremely easy to clean. Charred food debris just slides off the surface.
- base of the unit is made of plastic and acts as an insulator so there is no need to put anything under it to protect your tabletop.
- safety mechanism built in so that grill cannot be operated without drip pan.
- takes only 10 minutes to heat up fully.
- grill is a heavy cast iron so holds heat well. I have seen other similar grills by companies like Sanyo and only Zojurushi uses a heavy cast iron grill.
- heats very well. Grills meat very fast.
- no smoke generated- not sure why, but there just isn't any.

Cons:
- none so far.

Notes:
- if you want to grill vegetables, I'd recommend coating them with some oil before putting them on the grill, otherwise the veges tend to get dry.
- power cable is short, so make sure you have an extension cable handy.

Yes, it is....That is the problem with all the other electric grills on the market...they just don't get hot enough. This one does and I think it is just smashing !! I can control the temperature, it heats evenly and leaves nice grill marks on the food.....It is perfect for someone like me who does not have time to wait around for a charcoal fire to heat up and does not particularily like gas grills..... From onions to eggplant and shrimp to steak, this little cookery has lovingly seared my heart....It's just great !! It is certainly worth owning and I can highly recommend it to everyone !!

The Zojirushi EB-CC15 Indoor Electric Grill is a great indoor grill, and a large part of the reason my friend got me this one was due to the Amazon reviews. At first I was somewhat skeptical, since most similar products are significantly marked down from list price. But after spending a month really using this guy, I have become a believer. Zojirushi's reputation is well deserved!

Pros:
+ Great performance from the grill with a variety of meats and veggies
+ Detachable power cord provides safety and easier storage
+ Non-stick surface really works!
+ The lower reservoir catches excess fat and makes clean up easy
+ The size is perfect for grilling large quantities at once
+ The surface seems better designed for even grilling with wider bars than other units
+ The surface definitely is... Read more

This review is from: George Foreman GRP4 Next Grilleration 72 Square Inch White Removable Plate Grill (Kitchen)
We bought this model after dropping and breaking our inexpensive George Foreman "Champ" grill.

Pros:

- The removable grilling plates come off and go on easily, and cleaning them in the sink or dishwasher is a breeze. The base unit doesn't even get dirty!

- Non-stick grilling plates are sufficiently large to cook hamburgers for three or four people.

- Fat drips into the provided tray with no leaking out the back or sides.

- Floating hinges allow varying thicknesses of food to be held tight on the top and bottom.

- Total time to cook, once unit is fully heated, is faster than broiling the burgers in our electric oven and the grill uses far less power.

- Light enough to hold with one hand, for easy storing.

- Unit lacks a thermometer and temperature control, neither of which is needed for most things. Price is lower as a result.

- Easy, fast, and inexpensive method to cook many foods... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars FABULOUS!, May 11, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
When our small original George Forman gave out I bit the bullet, and decided to spend the money on one with more bells and whistles. GREAT DECISION! My husband uses this almost every day to make a burger, chicken breast, etc. I used it tonight, to make fabulous Tilapia filets which took no time and almost no effort (sprinkle w/ Emril's seasoning and grill for five minutes). THE BEST PART.... REMOVABLE GRILL PLATES! I've put these in the dishwasher and washed by hand. No problem and worlds better than the old model with the fixed plates. I'll use this appliance even more now that clean up is no longer a chore!

4.0 out of 5 stars Works well for me!, October 28, 2005
I'm a college girl just getting into cooking, and I've made salmon, burgers, and even bacon on this grill. Having someone say "This salmon was seared perfectly!" the first time you've ever made it is a great feeling! You really can't mess up with this thing.

Pros: The removable plates make clean up pretty easy. My burgers come out perfect every time.

Cons: I wouldn't call this non stick. Everything you make leaves something on the grill, and you really need to get scrubbing to get it off the hot plates when you're done (I find scrubbing the grime off the plates when it's hot is a lot easier than waiting for it to cool). It's also hard to clean the crevice where hinges are (but it's an open hinge, so solid thing that aren't sticky usually fall through).

To the reviewer below: The reason why everything comes out scorched is because you HAVE to wipe down the HOT plates with something to clean off the grease from your last batch--if you don't clean it off,... Read more

Meco 9300 Deluxe Tabletop Electric Grill, Satin Black Black Friday Deals 2012

Customer Rating :
Rating: 4.3

List Price : $219.13 Price : $115.00
Meco 9300 Deluxe Tabletop Electric Grill, Satin Black

Product Description

Satin Black Deluxe Tabletop Electric Grill, 1500-watt element and 200-square-inches of cooking surface.

Amazon.com Review

Energy efficient, even-cooking, and highly portable, Meco's Deluxe Tabletop Electric Grill features an innovative infrared heating element and 200-square-inches of space for cooking up savory hot meals on the fly. A 1500-watt element emits infrared heat to sear steaks and chicken to tender perfection. Easy-to-control infrared heat cooks evenly without burning. The grill's variable heat control feature enables instant temperature changes from a steak-searing high to a bread-warming low, so there's no waiting or preheating. Unlike charcoal grills that emit an unnatural smoke when juice drips on the coal, the infrared element burns off the dripping fats instantly, smoking food with untainted fumes for a natural, savory taste. Plus, with the Meco electric grill, there's no need for handling flammable lighter fluids or fuel cylinders. The heat reflector is positioned so that it drains excess dripping that might otherwise fuel large, meat-cauterizing flare-ups, though it also retains just enough juice to fuel flames small enough to lightly kiss the meat for a perfect sear. And, there's plenty of cooking space for large cuts of meat, such as, roasts, thick chops, whole chickens, and fancy burgers with all the trimmings. One more cool feature: A dual level mode simultaneously cooks steaks at different temperatures when one diner prefers his steak rare and the other prefers hers well-done. The dual-level mode also keeps bread warm on one side while chicken bakes on the other.

Along with all these cooking options, Meco designed this electric grill for simple assembly, easy, economical use, and durability. First of all, the grill is made of high quality steel forms and tubing throughout. And, all components are coated with Meco's quality Dura Fuse powder finish for corrosion resistance and good looks. All critical electrical and mechanical components, including hinges and handles come pre-assembled, so there's no major project to face when the box comes. The tabletop and base attach easily with just a few nuts and bolts. Plus, this energy efficient grill costs half the price of gas grills to operate, and is six times cheaper than cooking with a charcoal grill! Best of all, the whole thing fits into most dishwashers for fast and easy cleaning. --Brian Olson

I love this grill. There was a tiny bit of assembly needed, and it was very east to do. It is so convenient to use, and easy! Once you get used to it, there is no guess work as to the correct temperature to cook food at. It cooks evenly and the food is delicious cooked on it. We are in a condo where charcoal and propane grills are prohibited on the decks, so I was thrilled that it was okay to use an electric grill. It is fairly light weight, so it is easy to pick up and move if necessary. I would recommend this grill to anyone.

No smoke in apartment when cooking - I can finally put the batteries back in my smoke detector. Works really well - has direct and indirect heat, changes temps instantly. Food very good. Surprised - who knew? Never cooked on an electric grill before - but the building has rules. I have a tiny balcony. It fits!

Comes pretty much assembled - you attach the base - with a screwdriver, which I have. Cooking grid to dishwasher. Worked perfectly, with surprisingly large cooking grate for a wee grill. Solid - you can move it, but it doesn't feel tippy or flimsy. Glad I bought it.

We are retired and only have company now and then. This unit is perfect for our use. Still, it has sufficient capacity for the extra people without taking up a lot of space.
