There was a tiny bit of assembly needed, and it was very east to do. It is so convenient to use, and easy! Once you get used to it, there is no guess work as to the correct temperature to cook food at. It cooks evenly and the food is delicious cooked on it. We are in a condo where charcoal and propane grills are prohibited on the decks, so I was thrilled that it was okay to use an electric grill. It is fairly light weight, so it is easy to pick up and move if necessary.
